Weight loss newsletter the New York Post has taken notice of maybe-gay Newark mayor and U.S. Senate contender Cory Booker's recent weight gain gross pudginess, as evidenced by a recently snapped photo of Booker, sans heavy jacket, walking leisurely along a boardwalk near the beach (like a big ol’ fatty):
Cory Booker, the attention-loving Democratic mayor of Newark who is currently running for U.S. Senate, has repeatedly claimed he befriended a drug dealer named “T-Bone” when he first moved to Newark in 1995. Up until 2008, he told this story fairly often, wrenching the hearts of interviewers and audiences. But according to Eliana Johnson at National Review, “T-Bone” is almost certainly not a real person. Rutgers University history professor Clement Price, Johnson writes,
Alex Pareene urges Democratic voters in New Jersey to cast their ballots against "an avatar of the wealthy elite, a camera-hog, and a political cipher" in today's special Senate primary: "Cory Booker became a millionaire because this is how the economy works for people of his class: Rich people give other rich people money to do nothing, simply because they 'deserve' it. He is the worst sort of Democrat, and Democrats should be doing everything in their power to wrest control of the party away from people like him."
I can't even know what to say about the video for "Like a Rainbow" from Jersey's Carishma (pronounced like Liza Minnelli saying "charisma"). It makes "Born This Way" sound subtle, like early James Baldwin. It makes the Sex and the City style handbagging of gay men seem like ascending to a Louis Vuitton-upholstered throne. It kind of made me a little homophobic for three and a half minutes?
Newark mayor Cory Booker has formally announced his candidacy for the Senate seat vacated by the recently-deceased Frank Lautenberg. The special election will be this October. Chris Christie avoided the possibility of Booker being on the same ballot as him to the tune of $25 million in taxpayers money.
Bear the bear thought that, maybe, in New Jersey, he would finally make a friend. On Monday morning, he ended up in Montclair, not a bad little town, with its own art museum and a Whole Foods and big green backyards, perfect for a bear and his friends to play in. Scared and alone—his first time in New Jersey’s 60th-most-populous municipality—he began lumbering around, hoping that a friend would find him.
Want to be a senator? New Jersey Chris Christie just announced that he'll hold a special election to replace the late Frank Lautenberg on Oct 16. (The primary is on August 13, so get cracking.) Christie will appoint an interim senator (he hasn't chosen yet) to hold the spot until then.
