Donald Trump and Univision have settled their $500 million lawsuit over the network’s dumping of Miss Universe, the New York Post reports, after Trump described Mexican immigrants as rapists. Trump’s lawyers argued recently that Univision should not have been surprised by his remarks.

Last summer, Donald Trump filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision for breach of contract and defamation after the network dumped the Miss Universe pageant (of which Trump was, at the time, a part owner) following the racist unveiling of his presidential campaign. Univision wants the suit dismissed, arguing that Trump’s comments constituted a “cataclysmic” event that voided the contract, the New York Daily News reports. Trump’s lawyers, however, have argued that the remarks were “foreseeable”—that is to say, Univision knew what they were getting.

Just one year ago, Kristin Cavallari met fellow author and reality TV star Donald Trump at the Miss Universe pageant. Things were different, then—Trump was the owner of the pageant, and Kristin served as one of the judges.

This evening, Miss Colombia was crowned Miss Universe, at the Miss Universe pageant. This was a mistake: it was Miss Philippines who should have been crowned (and was, eventually), but host Steve Harvey read the cue card wrong.

Donald Trump, to be fair, says a lot of idiot things. And for the most part, people just ignore him until he tires himself out, as you might a child having a tantrum. But it looks like his idiot comments about drug-addicted-rapist Mexicans rightfully offended some people—Univision says they’re not going to air the Miss USA beauty pageant as long as he’s involved.

At its best, the Miss Universe contest is like a (more) superficial United Nations, complete with flawed solutions to tough policy questions. Just like the real UN, however, sometimes there's just no seeing eye to eye, as was the case with this week's spat over a controversial selfie showing Misses from warring Israel and Lebanon.

Donald Trump called in to Fox and Friends this morning to comment on Miss World's decision to nix bikinis in the Indonesian competition so as not to offend the country's large Muslim population:

Project Runway recently announced its Season 9 competitors, and here's a familiar face: Anya Ayoung-Chee realized she had "designer potential" when she "had the opportunity to consult on my wardrobe for the Miss Universe pageant in 2008," as Miss Trinidad-and-Tobago. The newly crowned Miss Universe, Jimena Navarrete, presented tonight's Late Show Top 10 List, "Ways Miss Universe Plans to Make the World a Better Place." Unfortunately, along with a couple of great ideas came a cheap shot at her country.
