Way back before there was Lady Gaga, there was Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and she lived in this apartment on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The entire premise of If These Walls Could Talk should be re-written so that it is about this place.

How Do You Deal with Public Displays of Homophobia?

Brian Moylan · 10/12/11 04:51PM

Just when you think that Manhattan is totally safe for gays, you hear about an awful verbal attack that you just can't believe. And in super gay Hell's Kitchen for that matter. Did the two men who were called "fags" in a CVS this morning do the right thing?

Justin Timberlake Gives Up His Tribeca Sex Condo

Richard Lawson · 07/22/11 04:46PM

Everything that Justin Timberlake owns is a sex something, so here's the New York City sex condo he just sold for $4.4 million. That figure is about 10% under what he bought the place for in 2008, but that slight loss is a drop in the bucket for the budding movie star.

Brian Moylan · 07/21/11 02:38PM

If I were an annoying New York doorman or the guy at the bodega who tries to make lames jokes all the time, I'd ask, "Is it hot enough out there for you?" But I won't do that. I'll just show you pictures of the street melting into a giant sink hole.

Yet Another Amazing Time-Lapse Video of New York City

Brian Moylan · 06/03/11 03:52PM

Are you a filmmaker looking for a bit of attention? All you have to do is make a time-lapse video of New York. Tons of them have come along, but every time a new one rolls around, I stop and stare at the people moving quickly, the sun rising over the buildings, and the little squiggles of light trailing taxi cabs. It gets me every time.

This Manhattan Mailbox Has Been Completely Taken Over by Bees

Brian Moylan · 05/31/11 03:54PM

The sidewalk at Mulberry and Grand Streets near Little Italy was closed down for several hours today so that beekeepers could remove a swarm of bees that descended on a mailbox on the corner. Apparently this is a natural phenomenon that happens this time of year when hives get overcrowded. Well, just because it's natural doesn't mean it isn't creepy.

Scaly Sea Monster Discovered Under Brooklyn Bridge

Maureen O'Connor · 05/26/11 11:19AM

On his evening commute, a Manhattan cyclist spied a strange beast at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. It had the scales of a fish, body of a serpent, head of a pit bull, and was the size of a large alligator. It was lying on a blue blanket, perhaps part of some strange ritual involving the can of Bud Light next to it. Unless these are the remains of a beer-swilling chupahipstera that died trying to reach Manhattan?

Brian Moylan · 04/30/11 10:45AM

Filmmaker Adam Abada rode the entire length of Broadway on Tuesday afternoon and shot every intersecting street sign on his journey. If you ever got dizzy making a trip uptown, try this one on for size. The bonus is that it takes less than a minute. We wish the A train was that fast. [NYT]
