After months of bureaucratic wrangling, the Obama administration has disclosed its official count of civilians killed in airstrikes outside of conventional war zones: Somewhere between 64 and 116 since 2009. Strangely enough, the administration chose to release the numbers on the Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend.

More than 100 migrants’ bodies were recovered from the Mediterranean on Friday, after a smuggling boat capsized off the coast of Libya. According to the Associated Press, more than 1,000 people have lost their lives attempting to cross the Mediterranean in the past 10 days.

On Wednesday, the UN Refugee Agency announced that it had spoken to survivors of a maritime disaster reported earlier this week, in which as many as 500 refugees and migrants are rumored to have drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, somewhere between Libya and Italy.

On Saturday, the Italian navy rescued some 320 migrants from an overcrowded boat in the Mediterranean Sea north of Libya. At least 40 other migrants died in the boat’s hold, apparently killed by fuel fumes, the Associated Press reports.

The Italian Coast Guard, aided by commercial vessels, rescued at least 16 boats of migrants off the coast of Libya on Sunday, the Associated Press reports. Ten bodies were recovered in the course of three different rescue operations.

The Islamic State released a video on Sunday appearing to show the killing of two groups of Ethiopian Christians captured by ISIS’s Libyan affiliates, the Guardian reports. The 29-minute-long video shows a group of around 15 men being beheaded in one location and another 15 being shot in the head elsewhere.
