New York Times Bureau Chief Isn't Chief of Her Own Tweets

John Cook · 11/28/12 04:29PM

Jodi Rudoren, the weirdly named Jerusalem bureau chief of the New York Times, likes to keep in touch with friends and readers via the social networking web sites Twitter.com and Facebook.com, as literate human beings in the developed world are often wont to do these days. But she is a Timeswoman! And since someone, somewhere, might object to Rudoren's musings if they are reproduced without the intercession of a bureaucrat tasked with draining them of all immediacy and character, she is now being assigned a Twitter Editor.

Help Name 'Times' Twins!

abalk · 09/11/07 03:21PM

Capitalization-averse Times Metro head Joe Sexton has shared the happy news: Times reporter Jodi Rudoren and her comedian husband Gary are the proud new parents of twins! Sexton notes in the office memo that he doesn't think "they have settled on names. but i believe jodi has backed off her naked effort at career advancement and decided not to go with bill and jill." (That's Times boss-folk Bill Keller and Jill Abramson. Funny, creepy, or funny-creepy? Hard to tell!) Anyway, while we know that the Rudorens have plenty of expertise when it comes to choosing names, we thought we'd all pitch in and put together a list of suggestions? We'll go with Dillinger and Gingerly. Your thoughts? Full memo follows.

Daniel Jones Is "Perhaps Pursuing Some Modern Love Of His Own"

Poor Times deputy metro editor for regional news Jodi Rudoren is on the Talk to the Newsroom hot seat this week, in which readers query New York Times editors. But alas, no one has any questions for her! She is reduced to answering non-questions along the lines of "I saw your photograph today on www.nytimes.com and just thought I would say hello—I was in the Class of 1992 with you—I don't have a question to ask." What is this, Facebook? But we imagine Jodi's lowest moment came when she was forced to address this query: "Why no Modern Love this week? It's my favorite column." "This has nothing to do with me," Jodi admits, and then elaborates—along the way telling us that sex is the most searched for topic on NYT.com.
