Not All 9/11 Families Oppose Cordoba House
Jim Newell · 08/16/10 04:06PM
While some families of 9/11 victims have spoken out against the Islamic community center to be built blocks from Ground Zero, it's incorrect to claim that "the 9/11 families," in general, oppose it. Hundreds have actually endorsed the plan.
Rush Limbaugh: Barack Obama Is "Our First Anti-American President"
Matt Cherette · 08/16/10 02:16PMMaster of subtle rationality Rush Limbaugh took to the airwaves today to discuss the Ground Zero non-mosque (just like Newt Gingrich did this morning) and, in the process, called Barack Obama "our first anti-American president." Audio of Limbaugh's rant, inside.
Newt Gingrich: Ground Zero Mosque Is Like Nazis Putting a Sign Next to the Holocaust Museum
Matt Cherette · 08/16/10 12:25PMOn Fox & Friends this morning, Newt Gingrich took nonsensical arguments against the Ground Zero Islamic cultural center (not a mosque) to a new level by comparing it to the Nazis putting up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum.
Some Alternative Plans for the 'Ground Zero' 'Mosque'
Max Read · 08/16/10 03:00AM
On Friday, President Obama spoke out supporting the right of the developers of the Cordoba House—the so-called "ground zero mosque"—to build at their site. And Republicans wouldn't shut up about it. It's okay! We have other ideas.

Jim Newell · 08/11/10 03:34PM
Anti-mosque fever is all the rage nationwide, not just in lower Manhattan. Everyone's doing it! And now the American Family Association, a religious right heavyweight, has taken it to a new level: no more mosques in the United States, period.

Video inside.
Fox News' Aggressive Ground Zero Mosque Camera Angle
Jim Newell · 08/04/10 05:17PM
Below are two photos a tipster sent from outside the building that will be demolished for the "Ground Zero Mosque." CNN's set-up shows the building in the background. Fox's, yards away, gives the impression of being in Ground Zero. Consider.
New York's Two Loudest Democrats Dead Silent on Ground Zero Mosque
Jim Newell · 08/04/10 12:27PM
Rep. Anthony Weiner and Sen. Chuck Schumer are two of New York's loudest Democratic politicians. They love to opine on everything! Except, strangely, on the issue of the Ground Zero Mosque. Why such deafening silence from these two flappy-mouths?

Jim Newell · 08/03/10 03:36PMMosque Makes Symbolic Gesture to Placate Political Opportunists, Bigots
Hamilton Nolan · 08/03/10 08:31AM
The backers of the "Ground Zero" "Mosque"—a proposed Muslim community center in an old Burlington Coat Factory building—say they'll include a 9/11 memorial in their building. So every posturing idiot, shut up please. What's that, Abe Foxman?
ADL Sides With Bigots Against Ground Zero Mosque, Officially Outlives Its Purpose
Jim Newell · 07/30/10 03:26PM
The Anti-Defamation League has issued a pathetic statement opposing Cordoba House, aka the "Ground Zero Mosque." While the ADL condemns the bigotry galvanizing Cordoba's opponents, and thinks proponents have "every right" to build there... it says they shouldn't anyway. Huh?

Jim Newell · 07/23/10 01:10PM

Adrian Chen · 07/22/10 08:20PM
Sarah Palin wrote on her Facebook page that building a mosque near Ground Zero is an "intolerable mistake." It was removed by an automated Facebook algorithm. It wasn't an anti-Palin algorithm: It was a mistake, and Facebook has now apologized.

Did Group Behind Rejected Anti-'Ground Zero Mosque' Ever Intend to Buy Air Time?
Jim Newell · 07/15/10 03:42PMNBC and CBS yesterday (wisely) rejected a demented National Republican Trust PAC ad called "Kill the Ground Zero Mosque." But did the PAC really intend to buy air time, or was it a stunt to raise money online? Doesn't matter.
CBS, NBC Won't Air Insanely Offensive Ground Zero Mosque Ad
Jim Newell · 07/14/10 02:27PMNBC and CBS are refusing to air this anti-Ground Zero mosque ad from the National Republican Trust PAC. Good call, since the ad is vulgar, racist, fearmongering garbage; a nauseating embarrassment that should be burned 50 times over. Enjoy!
