Florida is looking for participants in the most dangerous game. No, not that most dangerous game: python hunting. Burmese pythons are actually a major problem for Florida, specifically in the southern part of the state, where they are decimating natural flora and fauna like bugs, probably, and narwhals and unicorns, maybe (I have no idea what lives in the Everglades).

A 17-foot, 7-inch Burmese python found and euthanized last week in the Everglades is believed to be the largest ever caught in Florida.

Above is a picture of a female Burmese python caught in 2009 by a ranger in the Everglades National Park. All those sacs are embryonic pythons—59 potential hungry baby pythons in all.

One of President Michele Bachmann's plans for beefing up American energy independence would be to drill the Everglades. Again, that's "drill the Everglades," as a supposed means of extracting mass quantities of fossil fuels. This idea may be just terrible enough to disgust some of her fellow Tea Partiers.
