When Matt Drudge wasn’t writing up ALL-CAPS HEADLINES over the past year about Hillary Clinton, Trayvon Martin, Quentin Tarantino, and the “knockout game,” the notoriously peripatetic ur-blogger began occasionally documenting his whereabouts on Twitter—a bold decision for the famously reclusive Miamian.

A beautiful thing happened on Thursday morning. The Drudge Report threw up a giant headline, “SIGN UP: 1-800-FUCKYO,” beneath a Photoshopped picture of Barack Obama holding the bell of a stethoscope. The headline linked to a Daily Caller item, published several hours prior, about Healthcare.gov’s toll-free hotline, which is 1-800-318-2596. These numbers, associate editor Katie McHugh wrote, correspond to 1-800-FUCKYO. Sort of.

The latest victim of fake news source The Daily Currant: Matt Drudge, who (like the idiots at Zero Hedge last night) was taken in by this bafflingly unfunny story about Mike Bloomberg being denied a slice of pizza at a restaurant.

If you aren't naturally attuned to the frequency at which internet conservatives are currently shaking with rage, you might've been surprised when you visited right-wing aggregation site the Drudge Report this morning and were confronted with the following headline, in 40-point type: "'N*GGER. N*GGER. N*GGER. N*GGER. N*GGER. N*GGER. N*GGER.'" Clicking on the headline wouldn't satisfy your confusion: it linked to The Hollywood Reporter's review of Quentin Tarantino's new slave-revenge movie Django Unchained — a review that barely touches on the word's use in the movie. It's just a review.

A lot of people, it turns out. America's 236-year streak of successful, peaceful transitions of power from one administration to the next is about to be broken, because come Election Day 2012, no matter who wins, this country is going to break out into Riot City.

Way back in 2007, conservative bloggers went wild over then-presidential candidate Barack Obama's so-called "quiet riots" speech at Hampton Unversity, a historically black college in Virginia. For all the right-wing consternation over Obama's address, which included a shout-out to controversial Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the future president's words were mostly benign, the kind of pro-black, inspirational speech black politicians give to large audiences of black people as a matter of course. Yes, the speech did contain a few uses of the term "quiet riot," but they were in reference to the daily indignities under which many blacks in America suffer, not calls to arms.

For a few hours yesterday, the top link on the Drudge Report led to a YouTube video in which an Ohio woman said she's going to vote for President Obama because he gave her a phone. The woman is inarticulate and she speaks loudly, and on top of those things she's black. Basically, she is exactly the kind of person many on the right envision—wrongly, it should be said—when they think of who is guzzling from the government teat these days. That she was bragging about Obama giving "every minority in Cleveland" luxuries like cell phones was just the icing on the cake.

Matt Drudge's latest foray into barely subliminal messaging doesn't involve evil black youths beating up kindly white people. Instead, it shows Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, President Obama, and Nancy Pelosi all making the same gesture, establishing them as equally evil. Cute!

The Drudge Report linked the above headline to this Washington Post article on Catholic conservative Bob Turner's victory tonight over Democrat Dave Weprin in the race for Anthony Weinergate's old (and hopefully shampooed) Congressional throne. Looks like "angry blacks" have company!
