Hollywood PrivacyWatch: Damian Lewis

STV · 01/19/09 04:20PM

1/18 — While cruising the Santa Monica Farmer's Market for breakfast, spotted DAMIAN LEWIS. Haven't seen his latest series but recognized him from Band of Brothers. Cute, doting dad and seemed comfortable with the crowd. He was waiting to put one of his small children on the miniature pony rides (note to Farmer's Market organizers: Please move the ponies farther away from the Omelet Guy). He looked good, but shorter than expected (both the actor and pony). [Hollywood PrivacyWatch is written by and for Defamer readers; send your sightings to tips@defamer.com.]

Loving 'Phillip Morris'

Seth Abramovitch · 01/19/09 01:51PM

Let's get this out of the way: Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor make just about the cutest, most gaga-in-love couple we'll likely see in any movie at Sundance.

Today in Sundance Hell: Blaxploitation Lives!

STV · 01/19/09 01:31PM

In the latest roundup of news from the frozen, overcaffeinated Park City frontier, Sony bets on black, Ashton Kutcher gets it on (and on) and Uma Thurman revolutionizes Sundance fitness.

Hollywod PrivacyWatch: Giovanni Ribisi

STV · 01/19/09 01:05PM

1/17 — I was with a group of friends getting my karaoke on at Amagi in the Gower Gulch saturday night. In comes GIOVANNI RIBISI and his crew of beautiful people. Giovanni and crew were very supportive of the other singers, high-fiving and giving compliments. One of his friends sang an amazing version of "That's Life." Giovanni even sang "Oye Como Va." Couldn't help but think about The Other Sister, however. [Hollywood PrivacyWatch is written by and for Defamer readers; send your sightings to tips@defamer.com.]

Overheard At Sundance: Sunday, January 18th

Kyle Buchanan · 01/19/09 12:30PM

In the space of ten minutes yesterday, we brushed past Joe Francis and Paris Hilton (and might have acquired a secondhand STD)? For our Overheard Comments feature, though, we're bypassing them for Ewan McGregor.

Is 'The Greatest' Destined For Greatness?

STV · 01/19/09 12:00PM

Susan Sarandon and Pierce Brosnan's The Greatest screened twice over the weekend at Sundance, and however overcooked the dead-son weepie feels, we can't argue with multiple standing ovations.

Seth Abramovitch · 01/19/09 11:36AM

Greetings from the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, where your Defamer team is currently piled into a Park City youth hostel, blissfully unaware that we'll soon be tortured by international-film-buyers for sport. Your box office numbers:

Park City PrivacyWatch: Stephen Baldwin

STV · 01/18/09 03:00PM

1/17 — Ran into STEPHEN BALDWIN on Saturday evening at the Starbucks on Park Avenue across from Albertsons. It didn't even occur to me that it was him when he first passed me, because he was way chunkier than I expected, more heavily tatted than I remembered, and semi-concealed beneath a beanie and ski pants from his trip up the hill. But as I left he was posing for pictures with other tourists and locals who did recognize him, so I guess it was him. Not quite Canada, SB, please keep moving. With his appearance Saturday night in Park City, documentary subject Mike Tyson became the first ear-biting, convicted-rapist ex-heavyweight champion to receive a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival.
