Today's Columbia Spectator offers some helpful insights into how to go about getting a coveted internship. One article, by a student who seems to have been hanging around campus forever, kind of like Eric Stoltz in Beautiful Girls Kicking and Screaming, laments the lameness of his internship experiences, particularly one at Time Asia:

If you were out and about on Monday night, perhaps the guy asking for money on the corner looked a little ... different than he usually did. But what was it, exactly? The face that was scrubbed a little too clean? The pristine white Converse?

As you've undoubtedly heard, the New York City Council is trying to crack down on underage drinking in the wake of the death of 18-year-old Jennifer Moore, who was killed after a night of imbibing at Chelsea club Guest House. But the Columbia Spectator editorial board isn't having it—if Columbia students want to drink, they WILL DRINK, goddammit.

Remember The Gates, the Columbia student soap opera that featured, among other things, gratuitous girl-on-girl action, an orgasm simulated by a camera pan to a painting of a tidal wave, and dialogue like, "This is college. You have to start trying new things"? (If not, we've helpfully posted Part 1 of Episode 1 above.) Well, welcome to second semester—it's back! The Columbia Spectator interviews director Davide Barillari, who continues to put his tuition dollars to good use:

It's shocking how endlessly twatwafflish Columbia students are. Exhibit #517 is this new soap opera from Morningside Heights, creatively titled "The Gates." It's being shown on the Columbia TV station but has also helpfully been posted to YouTube so the plebians can hear such scintillating dialogue as, "This is college. You have to start trying new things," and "A man of the world! Have you thought about rushing?" In Part 2, there's also some girl-on-girl action; as an added bonus, one of the parties involved is a shy Asian engineering student who's just come from Bible study. Score!
