• Real estate developer Christopher Jeffries, whose Millennium Partners turned the St. Moritz on Central Park South into a Ritz-Carlton with 277 rooms and 11 full-floor condos, has sold his 29th floor, 5,954-square-foot apartment in the building for $28.5 million. [Cityfile]

Now that Albert Hammond Jr. is settling down with Agyness Deyn, he's looking to unload his East Village bachelor pad and join his fiancée in Brooklyn, The Post's Braden Keil reports today. Hammond is asking $1.199 million for the 1,200-square-foot co-op at 141 East 3rd Street, which he bought in 2005. The apartment features two bedrooms, a makeshift recording studio, and a renovated kitchen. More photos below.

• Thomas J. McInerney, Barry Diller's right-hand man and IAC's chief financial officer, paid $4.8 million for a 12th floor apartment at 300 East 79th Street. The 2,664-square-foot space has four bedrooms. [Cityfile]

The glassy Richard Meier-designed 165 Charles Street is losing one of its most famous residents, the Post's Braden Keil reports today: Natalie Portman has put her convertible three-bedroom apartment on the market for $6.55 million. (She bought the place for $5.7 million in 2005.) Sad news for the other tenants in the building, sure, but there's a silver lining: The apartment directly below Natalie's is also on the market right now and the two pads could easily be converted into a ridiculously expensive duplex. • Rachael Ray and her husband John Cusimano paid $1.25 million for apartment 6G at 49 East 12th Street, the Greenwich Village building they already live in. The couple had previously purchased units 6E and F back in 2004. [TRD]
  

• Sheila Nevins paid $2 million for apartment 16J in the Chelsea Mercantile, making it the third apartment she's purchased in the building in the past four years. She previously bought a sixth-floor unit for $1.095 million in 2004 and a ninth floor unit for $1.925 million in 2007. • Web entrepreneur (and blog cover boy) Pete Rojas is moving to 7 Essex Street. The founding editor of Gizmodo, former editor of Engadget, and founder of RCRD LBL is paying $1.584 million for a two-bedroom unit with "treetop views of Seward Park." The seller was Nancy Yao, a managing director at the Council on Foreign Relations.

The summer season has reached its midpoint, but if you'd like to get a jump on 2009—and assuming you can afford the hefty price tag—Christie Brinkley's Shingle-style manse in Bridgehampton is still available for the taking. The entry to Peter Dinklage's townhouse in the West Village is a tiny one. But what else would be expected from the world's most famous achondroplastic dwarf?

• Justin Long, the former Mac Guy and current beau of Drew Barrymore, is paying $2.43 million for a two-bedroom apartment at Blue, the Bernard Tschumi-designed building on the Lower East Side. [NY Sun]

• Folk singer Natalie Merchant has picked up an apartment near Sutton Place for $705,000. The one-bedroom condop at 211 East 53rd Street is on the small side, but that won't be a big issue for Natalie since she spends most of her time at her homes in Hawaii and upstate New York.

• Hotelier Ian Schrager is paying $14.9 million for the triplex penthouse at 40 Bond Street. Once it's complete, Schrager will kick back in a 8,500-square-foot space, with 4,000-square-feet of outdoor space and 11-foot ceilings. [TRD]

Poor DMX. The drug-loving, dog-abusing, gravel-voiced rapper was arrested this week for the third time since April, this time for driving with a suspended license. To make matters worse, he's also now losing possession of the Harlem townhouse he purchased for $725,000 in 2001. It seems DMX—or Earl Simmons if you prefer real names—didn't follow through on a contract to promote a line of dog products (perhaps because he was busy killing them?) and now the owner of the doggie supply company has obtained a court order to auction off the house to pay off the $281,000 DMX owes for breach of contract. The home, which has been unoccupied for a couple of years, is located at 2007 Fifth Avenue on the corner of East 124th Street. It will be auctioned off by the county sheriff's office on August 13. "Quirky" comedienne and author Amy Sedaris has gone into contract on a fourth-floor apartment at 50 West 9th Street, off Fifth Avenue. Listed at $1.25 million, the one-bedroom co-op features arched doorways, a wood-burning fireplace, and all the original wood ceiling beams, floors, doors, and hardware. Amy won't be making the move from her current digs on Christopher Street alone: Her pet rabbit Dusty, her collection of plastic food (like the ham bone, right) and possibly the ghost of her murdered imaginary boyfriend, Ricky, are expected to go along for the ride. Donald Trump will do anything to generate a little press. That you know. This time, though, the attention addict and notorious cheapskate is scoring a little media time at the expense of former Tonight Show sidekick Ed McMahon: He released a public statement and made TV appearances this week to tell the world he's swooping in to rescue McMahon from foreclosure. Except poor Ed—who has enough drama in his life, thank you—hasn't heard a peep from The Donald or anyone else in Trump's camp. Did you lose Ed's contact info, Donald? • Literary power couple Nick Pileggi and Nora Ephron closed on apartment 2B at 136 East 79th Street this week, paying $2.475 million for the two-bedroom pad one floor below the apartment they currently occupy. [Observer]

• Project Runway hostess Heidi Klum is leaving her Bank Street pad, now that the deal to sell her penthouse has officially closed. Although the $5.35 million sale price is less than the $5.6 million the apartment was rumored to be going for, the two-bedroom was too small to fit her (rapidly expanding) family, who will remain in LA for the time being.

They've only been there since November, but Mariska Hargitay and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, are already putting their Chelsea penthouse on the market for $8.25 million in hopes of finding a better place uptown, closer to their son's private school.
