On New Year’s Eve, in Cologne, Germany, hundreds of young men took part in what appeared to be an organized campaign of sexual harassment against about 90 women around the Cologne Cathedral. According to Reuters, on Tuesday, authorities described the events as “a new dimension in crime.”

A truck full of bodies presumed to be refugees was just found on the side of a highway in Austria, where politicians are gathering this week to brainstorm how to make it more difficult for migrant workers to escape their hellish existences.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, and while brave brands attempt to commemorate the beginning of the end of the Cold War through native advertising online, citizens of Berlin gathered along the wall's former path and at Brandenburg Gate to memorialize the historic anniversary.

Germany announced today that it's asked the top CIA official at the U.S. embassy in Berlin to leave the country. The expulsion comes just days after German officials launched investigations two possible U.S. spies have been investigated in Germany.

German police searched the apartment of an alleged spy in Berlin this morning, according to the New York Times. If this person spied for the U.S., as several military sources told the German paper Süddeutsche Zeitung, he would be the second such spy Germany's found in two weeks.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is on a state visit to the United States, and earlier today she held a press conference with prominent American leaders like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. She came bearing a gift for her old pal Hillary, too — a framed German newspaper with a picture of their midsections, allowing readers to compare. Uh... thanks, Merk? It's that old Prussian sense of humor about ladies' hips, we guess. Germans are nuts. Anyway, Hilldawg got a good laugh out of it.

For those of you rejoicing in bloodlust over Osama bin Laden's death, a piece of advice: Don't go to Germany! They have this bizarre cultural thing about dancing on peoples' graves with blood pouring out of your mouth. And it's entrenched enough that German Chancellor Angela Merkel's statement about being "glad" to hear about bin Laden's death has become a major national scandal, even landing her a criminal complaint from a Hamburg judge today.

But maybe she can take some comfort from Forbes' new "100 Most Powerful Women" list.
