Of all the liquor stores, in all the towns, in all the world, this robber had to walk into one that employs a 30-year military vet who did four tours in Iraq and worked as a prison guard, a private eye, and a bounty hunter.

Jon Lewis Alexander, 54, is being hailed as a hero by the owners of Marionville, Missouri store where he disarmed a would-be tough guy with just his Walther PPX 9mm handgun and a dirty look.

"One of the policemen told me later, 'You're a lucky man,'" Alexander recalled. "I said, 'I think he (the robber) is a little luckier than I am.'"

If only all gun owners were like this guy and not buying into the NRA's shoot first think second bs. This guy with all this training with guns, guns being a huge part of his life from the sounds of it for a long time and when he has a gun pulled on him instead of blowing the guy away he holds back and doesn't shoot. So many NRA dicks out there cleaning their guns right now praying someone would pull a gun on them so they could kill someone (Zimmerman's etc). Nice to see a guy with all that training and still preserve life. Also sad someone who has served for his country so much working in a convenience store unless he either owns it or is getting paid a lot to prevent robberies. he was certainly well prepared for someone to rob the place. looked like he had practiced that maneuver a lot, the way he pushed the other gun away and pulled his out at the same time shows a lot of practice and skill. I hope if he is down on his luck and working cheap at a convenience store he can use this video to get himself a highpaying security job or something. I also hope the robber turns his life around and makes something good out of the opportunity this man gave him by not pulling the trigger.

He is exactly is the kind of person I think should be allowed to carry a gun. He obviously knows what he is doing. And he has the field experience and training to pack heat.

I don't really feel the same way about every other person in america.

So though I know this will inevitably be used by some people as an argument about how everyone should be able to carry guns, I think this man's record is really the salient point here.
