Reporter Says Subway Jared Talked About Middle School Girls Being "Hot"
A former journalist tells ABC she alerted the FBI after Jared Fogle—the now-suspended face of Subway—made a series of inappropriate, unsettling comments about young girls.
The woman, who lives in Sarasota, FL and spoke anonymously, claims she’s known Fogle for at least a decade. She was apparently working as a journalist in the area when she met Fogle at local events—including at least one appearance at the American Heart Association Walk (Subway is a national sponsor.)
“He said something to me when we were off camera and that really stuck with me. I thought to myself, ‘did he really say that to me?’”
According to the woman, Jared would often visit schools in Sarasota County, and allegedly told her numerous times that, “Middle school girls are hot.”
The woman accused Jared of making even more inappropriate comments, but she won’t go into much more detail.
“They weren’t jokes. They were very serious,” she said.
She tells the network she was so unsettled by his comments that she contacted the FBI and claims agents had her wear a wire to record their conversations.
Fogle’s attorney, Ron Elberger, tells ABC the woman’s allegations are an “unrealistic fabrication.”
