Actor, eccentric, and fugitive from justice Randy Quaid was detained in Vermont while trying to cross into the United States from Canada this weekend, police said Saturday. He is expected to be arraigned on Monday.

Quaid and his wife, Evi, are wanted in Santa Barbara, California, on charges filed in 2010 —either vandalism (AP), burglary (TMZ), or illegal squatting (AFP), it’s not exactly clear—after the couple were found living in the guesthouse of a home they had previously owned.

The Quaids skipped their scheduled court appearances and fled to Canada, Agence France-Presse reports. The couple claimed asylum, saying that they were being pursued by a group of celebrity serial killers called the “Hollywood Star Whackers.”

Evi was granted citizenship, but Randy was not; what’s more, he was ordered to leave the country by Wednesday.

Immigration authorities are holding the Quaids on $500,000 bond each, TMZ reports. It is likely that California will move to extradite them.
