Parents Have Own Kids Arrested for Throwing Party Without Permission
Having watched one too many teen comedies, a pair of high school students from Glastonbury, Connecticut, decided to take advantage of their parents' weekend-long absence to throw a party, figuring they would easily weasel out of any hi-jinks that might ensue should their parents return home early.
But when their parents did return home early, the two girls, aged 15 and 16, quickly learned an invaluable lesson about the difference between John Hughes and real life.
For one thing, Shermer, Illinois, is a fictional town.
For another, their parents had no qualms about calling the police to raid the party and arrest them for permitting a minor to possess alcohol.
Agent James Kennedy of the Glastonbury Police told The Hartford Courant that this was the third party hosted by the girls over the course of three days, and that each was attended by some 15 to 20 kids.
It is unclear if any of the other attendees were arrested, but Kennedy said the parents did "the right thing."
