Roughly half of the 233 people convicted of “hate speech” last year in Russia were using the popular Facebook clone VKontakte. But “hate speech” isn’t always hate speech. Sometimes you could go to jail for two years for sharing a meme about toothpaste and Crimea to your twelve online friends, the AP reports.

Fest 2, a concert of bands that have been associated with far-right politics and neo-Nazism. A Santos employee told Gawker the closure is unrelated to the controversy surrounding the show.

From 2007 to the end of 2015, the New York Daily News reports, the New York Catholic Conference, led by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, paid top Albany lobbyists more than $2.1 million to help block legislation, including the Child Victims Act, that would make it easier for victims of child sex abuse to seek justice.
