J-Woww Will Be Protected

Jenni Farley of Jersey Shore is a busy, busy girl. In addition to her role as "MTV's newest sensation of reality TV," J-Woww's the founder of a clothing line, graphic design company, and "Long Island's top promotional company," and she recently introduced "an Insane Liquid formula that will gaurantee [sic] weight loss," too. All this has made her a very popular person, as you can probably imagine. But she doesn't want to see any of her devoted fans getting injured when they show up to her "homecoming celebration" later this week, a point she'll undoubtedly be stressing when she addresses her "security issues" at a press conference tomorrow:

Bloomberg for President?

When the news broke last night that Mayor Bloomberg had tapped Howard Wolfson to join his administration, some people wondered if it was a sign the mayor was thinking (once again) about running for president. So is he? "I have no plans to run for president of the United States in 2012 or 2016 or 20-anything," Bloomberg told reporters earlier today. So now you can go back to just worrying about Scott Brown and Sarah Palin's chances in 2012. [NYDN, AP]

Heidi Montag Performs Soft-Core Demerol-Yoga

Arianna Reiche · 01/26/10 12:59PM

Heidi Montag has now released this baffling video of the most lackluster yoga we've ever seen. It's probably supposed to be sexy, but seeing her downward dog just makes us nervous that her forehead will fall off or something.

Bat Mitzvah Dad Goes on Trial

Remember David Brooks, the Long Island defense contractor who spent $10 million on his daughter's bat mitzvah in 2005—the Rainbow Room blowout featured performances by Aerosmith, 50 Cent, Ciara, and Tom Petty among others—and was later accused of using company money to pay for it?

Facebook CEO's Sister Wants To Be a Pop Star

Ryan Tate · 01/26/10 12:26PM

CEO Mark Zuckerberg's sister is known for her lipdubs, after all, those annoying ersatz music videos uploaded to the internet. She moved on to real music when her ad-hoc Open Source Band played a recent Silicon Valley fundraiser. And now this performance, which nicely leverages her social network's prominence into more attention for the accused social climber. "The voice of social networking!" one critic raves. By that standard, we could do far worse than Zuckerberg. But that ain't saying much.

Japan's Bad Neighborhood Still Bad

Hamilton Nolan · 01/26/10 12:25PM

Tokyo's struggling to "clean up" its Roppongi neighborhood, where Nigerian hustlers steer suckers into shady bars where they're drugged and robbed. You'd think that business would fall off naturally, right? But this next drink might be the un-spiked one! [LAT]

Davos Just Isn't What It Used to Be

cityfile · 01/26/10 11:58AM

This is usually the time of year when politicians, big-shot bankers, and top diplomats converge on Davos, Switzerland for the annual World Economic Forum. But like last year, the event is expected to be far more downbeat than in years past when Angelina Jolie turned up to discuss global poverty and Naomi Campbell strutted around the Alpine village in very fashionable après-ski attire. This year the best attendees can look forward to is catching a glimpse of Chinese pianist Lang Lang or self-important director James Cameron. Depressing!

Hamilton Nolan · 01/26/10 11:50AM

Markus Reinhardt, the police commander in charge of security at the earth-controlling Davos World Economic Forum (which starts tomorrow), was found dead in his hotel room this morning. Police say he apparently committed suicide. Um. [News24]
