It’s hard to imagine a better cautionary tale about police use of force than that of James Peters, a former Scottsdale police officer who shot and killed six people between 2002 and 2012. In a real weird murder case that’s only getting weirder by the day, cops in India have arrested a prominent television executive on charges that she murdered her own daughter. Except, apparently no one knew it was her daughter, because she’d been pretending they were sisters.
Just over 24 hours after Alison Parker was shot to death on live television, her father Andy Parker spoke to CNN’s Chris Cuomo about his daughters life and death, and the need for increased gun control. “I’m not going to rest until I see something happen,” Parker said.

From what I know about yesterday’s shooter, he was angry because he lost his job. This guy reminds me of many other men who kill—off the top of my head I can think of at least five mass murders where the killer was fired from a job, dumped by a girlfriend, or rejected. Ending lives essentially because they didn’t feel like they were getting what they deserve. Entitlement.

Twenty-four hours after two of their colleagues were murdered live on their show, the hosts of WDBJ’s Mornin’ returned to the air to honor slain reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward. “Joining hands here on the desk,” anchor Kimberly McBroom said after a moment of silence. “It’s the only way to do it.”
According to various #websites, August 26 (today!) is #NationalDogDay. In light of this news, an obvious question might be, “Wait, what governing body even has the authority to declare such a holiday?” However, an even more obvious answer is, “What’s it matter, you drip, don’t we all deserve to see a bunch of dogs?”
