Richard Lawson · 06/27/11 01:00PM

On last night's episode of Real Housewives of Orange Skin County the ladies took flight. Some rose to new heights as they pursued their dreams. Others went twirling in the air. And others still zoomed off into the adventure of a country weekend.

Michele Bachmann, clad in her most confidently shiny suit, officially launching her presidential campaign in her native town of Waterloo, Iowa today. Will she be our new, shiny president come January 2013? If it can't be Donald Trump, then sure, this'll do.

Everything You Missed from New York's Celebratory Gay Pride Parade

Brian Moylan · 06/27/11 11:32AM

The passage of the marriage equality bill on Friday night couldn't have been timed any better, since it kicked off what was a celebratory Gay Pride weekend in New York City. Rather than a protest or political action, this year's parade down Fifth Avenue and across Greenwich Village was all about celebration. Who cares if the people in Middle America are scared by our drag queens, leather daddies, and dykes on bikes, this year was for us—and what a time it was!

The bulletproof animation hut produces a hit once again, narrowly avoiding catastrophe. Also: Green Lantern continues to tank, Cameron Diaz is the new Kristen Wiig (except not), and Conan can't win.

Can This Insane Mirage of Buildings and Mountains Be Real?

Jesus Diaz · 06/27/11 09:50AM

This video is simply unbelievable: Buildings, mountains and trees materializing in the mist over the water, following a heavy downpour at dusk. Witnesses couldn't believe their eyes. I couldn't believe it either. But cameras don't lie, right?

BET Awards Blooper Screws Chris Brown, So It's Okay

Hamilton Nolan · 06/27/11 08:57AM

Heartbreak and heartache at the BET awards last night! At least for celebrity presenter and self-described "Writer. Dance addict. Artist. MILF" Tiffany. See, she looked down on her little e-tablet (nice touch!) to read off the award winner and it said "Chris Brown," but on the Teleprompter they were telling her "Rihanna." Then Drake came up and accepted the award for Rihanna and then later they said actually the award was for Chris Brown after all. Ha. We're over it already Chris Brown, sorry!

L.A. Schools Give Up on Homework

Hamilton Nolan · 06/27/11 08:18AM

Homework is only the worst idea ever. Who was the first jerk who was like, "Hey, got a great idea here, after we made you sit in school all day let's send more school work home with you, so as to infest your every waking hour with dread and help you develop a lifelong loathing of formal education?" I mean come on. Kids hate doing homework. Teachers hate grading homework. Now, students in LA are more or less free to never do homework again.

After mass yesterday he told the Daily News that he needs a little cheering up: "I sort of needed a good dose of the Lord's grace and mercy because I've been down a little recently, as you might imagine."

Jeff Neumann · 06/27/11 03:44AM

One of two jackets that Michael Jackson wore in his 'Thriller' video was sold at auction yesterday to a rich Texan named Milton Verret for $1.8 million(!). According to his blog, "Milton Verret is an avid car collector and a fan of hot rods, Corvettes, and other popular sports cars." And aside from the times when Verret wants to reenact 'Thriller' in his home, the jacket will go on tour:

Inside Dominique Strauss-Kahn's Post-Check Out Pauper Lunch

Jeff Neumann · 06/27/11 02:35AM

According to one of Dominique Strauss-Kahn's lawyers, just after the alleged incident with a hotel maid the Frenchman had lunch with his daughter in Manhattan. Now the Times has the details. It seems that DSK and his daughter ate at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant on West 52nd Street — a chain restaurant. How uncivilized.
