RuPaul's Drag Race: Straight Dads Learn How To Tuck Dick

Rich Juzwiak · 04/03/12 09:47AM

RuPaul's Drag Race doesn't confine its stretching and inverting the concept of masculinity to the figurative: the show is a literal assault on the penis. (Has Camille Paglia gushed over this yet?) As if portraying the lighter side of gender fucking weren't audacious enough, the show will at times describe all the gory details of hiding dick for the sake of drag (it's worth noting that its sister show is called Untucked). Such was the case last night, when the remaining queens had to drag-ify some straight(-ish) dads brought in who had no firsthand experience with penis-tucking. Ball negotiation ensued, as did the most platonic man-on-man cock assistance in the gayest forum possible.

Japan Loves Pizza So Much

Hamilton Nolan · 04/03/12 09:09AM

In Japan, your average Domino's Pizza outlet has 50% higher sales than a U.S. outlet. Why? Because Japanese people are weird. From Ad Age:

Stephen Colbert Won't Stand for the Smear Campaign Against Pink Slime

Matt Toder · 04/02/12 11:10PM

Where some liberals see a disgusting concoction of spare beef parts that was once only fit for dog food, Stephen Colbert sees the heart of America: yes, pink slime is as beefy as the Republican Governors who have stood up for it. On tonight's Colbert Report, Stephen urges that you reconsider your position on the matter because "dude, it's beef."

Jon Stewart Recaps All the People Tepidly Endorsing Mitt Romney

Matt Toder · 04/02/12 10:36PM

Mitt Romney is the presumptive GOP nominee and a lot of prominent Republicans have endorsed him in recent weeks. Yet, for some reason, everyone who endorses him seems to not be truly sold on Romney, they're just picking him because there's no else. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart broke it all down.

Just Fire Chevy Chase

Louis Peitzman · 04/02/12 10:10PM

I have no trouble picking a side in the feud between Dan Harmon and Chevy Chase. (Team Harmon, in case that wasn't immediately clear.) But inevitably, it doesn't matter: Chase did some things, Harmon said some things, Chase said some things back. Maybe they're both at fault, in which case I should probably be writing a more measured analysis of their beef.

Terrorism Gets Creative With Graphic Design

Louis Peitzman · 04/02/12 07:40PM

A radical overseas website linked to terror organizations posted the unsettling image of the New York City skyline and the text "Al Qaeda Coming Soon Again in New York." What's almost as disturbing as the threat is the eye-grabbing design.

The Most Famous Mistress in Tech Finally Explains Her Spectacular Revenge

Ryan Tate · 04/02/12 06:44PM

Two years ago, a series of odd billboards greeted passers-by in New York, Atlanta, and the San Francisco Bay Area. They showed a cuddling, smiling couple under the title "Charles & YaVaughnie" and listed a website documenting the couple's romance. Research only deepened the mystery: The man was an Oracle president and already married - and not to the woman on the outdoor ad.

Here's An Idea: Make Game of Thrones Silent Except for Peter Dinklage

Rich Juzwiak · 04/02/12 05:40PM

Season 2 of Game of Thrones premiered on HBO last night, which means that Peter Dinklage can bring back sunshine to our lives. Even if the actor were half as charming, his Tyrion would still steal the show by virtue of his ability to cut through its pervasive bleakness and get to the driest of dry comic relief.

New Rape Cop Emerges Right on Time

Hamilton Nolan · 04/02/12 03:55PM

It's been five days since former NYPD officer Michael Pena was found guilty of drunkenly sexually assaulting a Manhattan woman at gunpoint. Is New York ready for a week without a rape cop?

Bike Seats Causing Sexual Dysfunction In Women, Generally Making Everything Less Sexy

Jessica Benjestorf · 04/02/12 02:30PM

Let's face it: Bicycle riding—while not as overtly menacing as, say, motorcyles—can be a dangerous enterprise. If you ride your bike in the city you are constantly running the risk of getting hit by a car, facing a criminal case of crotch rash, or ruining your lungs. Add that to police crackdowns, and you've got serious physical and financial risks to consider before hopping on your fixed gear. It doesn't end there.

The Virtues of Being Bullied

Rich Juzwiak · 04/02/12 02:15PM

Lee Hirsch's much-discussed film, Bully, is a great document of this moment in anti-bullying discourse. It reiterates what the compassionate know and the apathetic need to hear: bullying is bad and kids are killing themselves in response.
