While many media outlets cower in their luxury office towers, too scared to stand up for the Bill of Rights that built this great nation, we are unafraid to boldly proclaim: yes, unpredictable partisan crazies should carry deadly weapons on the floor of the Republican National Convention.

I don’t plan on being there myself.

Nevertheless, I will stand as one with the nearly four thousand patriotic Americans who have signed their name to this public petition to “Allow Open Carry of Firearms at the Quicken Loans Arena during the RNC Convention in July.” As the petition rightly points out, “Without the right to protect themselves, those at the Quicken Loans Arena will be sitting ducks, utterly helpless against evil-doers, criminals or others who wish to threaten the American way of life.”

Well said, scary gun-toting reactionaries.

The Republican candidates claim to support gun rights. But do they? They don’t even want to allow a boisterous crowd of Donald Trump supporters to arm themselves with firearms while attending the convention at which party leaders will try to steal the nomination from Donald Trump. That’s not just anti-American; it’s anti-fun.

Imagine locking thousands of pissed-off, heavily armed Americans in a large room as their hero, Donald Trump, exhorts them to do whatever is necessary to stop the powers-that-be from defeating him using arcane political maneuvering. That, my friends, is a show that I would watch. And as a member of the media, I can tell you that we really need to build our audience. We need this bad. Don’t take this away from us.

Yeah... let em take in some guns.
