A rush-hour train derailment in Moscow today killed 19 people and injured 150, according to Russian officials. At least 50 of the injured are reportedly in grave condition.

An alarm accidentally set off by a power surge caused a train to stop suddenly, the Associated Press reports, sending several cars off the rails. The incident happened near Park Pobedy, the deepest station in Moscow's subway system, making evacuations particularly difficult.

CNN reports dozens of ambulances and several helicopters were on the scene shuttling the injured to hospitals. Altogether, more than 200 people were evacuated.

According to Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov, terrorism has been ruled out as a potential cause.

"There was smoke and we were trapped inside," a passenger told local TV station Rossiya 24. "It's a miracle we got out. I thought it was the end."
