On Fox News last night, Rep. Michele Bachmann confirmed Rachel Maddow's suspicion that Republicans were happy about the government shutting down, telling Sean Hannity "this is about the happiest I've seen members in a long time."

Despite the health and livelihood of millions being at stake, Bachmann sought to assuage Hannity's concerns that certain GOP lawmakers were "buckling" and just wanted to "bend down at the altar of Reid and Obama."

"We're really very energized today, we are very strong," Bachmann assured Hannity. "This is about the happiest I've seen members in a long time, because we see we are starting to win this dialogue on a national level."

The latest poll numbers tell an entirely different story, one in which the GOP is losing the support of both the American public, and their own constituents, the majority of whom disapprove of the shutdown.

Also, sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling the words "I'm not listening" over and over while someone else is trying to talk is not a "dialogue."
