On yesterday’s episode of the conservative Howie Carr Show, Donald Trump was asked to describe the difference between Bill Clinton and Bill Cosby, a man accused of raping tens of women. His answer: “you almost have to ask Bill Clinton that question.”

BuzzFeed first reported the exchange:

Asked on the Howie Carr Show on Monday if there is a difference between Clinton and Cosby, Trump said, “Well, the Cosby thing is a weird deal and he’s got himself some big problems, and you almost have to ask Bill Clinton that question. It would be a very interesting question to some day ask him. Certainly he has a lot of strong charges against him and it’s pretty bad stuff. And it only got brought up because she said I have sexist tendencies. And I respect women so much and I’ll protect women and I’ll protect them and I’ll protect the whole country.”

This is a deeply weird thing to say about a guy you personally selected to attend the most special day of your life. It’s not like the Juanita Broaddrick allegations—extensively covered in 1999—would’ve been unknown to Trump in 2005:

It’s also a deeply weird thing to say after your own ex-wife has accused you of raping her.
