Police identified the man as 32-year-old Rolan Reid. When they made the arrest at the Canal Street station on Saturday, he threatened them, “I’m going to throw you guys onto the tracks,’’ the New York Post reports.
Later, Reid was taken to a hospital for psychological evaluation, police said. He also reportedly made statements to police incriminating himself.
The 28-year-old woman was treated and released from a hospital after the attack on Monday morning. According to the Associated Press, She was standing on a platform at the Bleecker Street station when Reid allegedly yelled at her, “What are you looking at” before pushing her onto the tracks.
