Here's How Ben Carson Would Avoid Getting Shot: Offer the Gunman Someone Else to Shoot
When asked earlier this week what he would do in an active shooter situation, Ben Carson said, “I would not just stand there and let him shoot me.” Now, he clarifies just how he would do that: by offering up someone else as a target.
So often, politicians seem to talk without having any idea what they’re actually saying, which is what most people probably thought was happening when Carson suggested that, if confronted by a gunman, he’d fight back: “I would say, ‘Hey, guys, everybody attack him! He may shoot me but he can’t get us all,’” he told Fox News earlier this week.
But upon further review, it appears the “him” in Carson’s scenario was actually a reference to an innocent bystander. Case-in-point, the Popeyes employee Carson proudly admits he once offered up like a sacrificial lamb. From CNN:
“I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeye’s organization” in Baltimore, the retired neurosurgeon told Karen Hunter on Sirius XM Radio, referring to the fried chicken fast-food chain.
“Guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. And I just said, ‘I believe that you want the guy behind the counter,’” Carson.
Hero? That’s what Ben Carson would say, probably. I believe the technical term is “coward.”
