The purported cocaine kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman may be sent to Brooklyn to be prosecuted if he is extradited from Mexico, according to federal Justice Department officials cited in the Wall Street Journal today.

Several jurisdictions have cases against the alleged drug lord, and the DOJ settled on Brooklyn after reviewing others and deciding that the Brooklyn indictment is the strongest, the Journal reports. The indictment, brought by the Brooklyn U.S. attorney’s office, alleges that the Sinaloa cartel brought 457,000 of kilograms of product into the area and is responsible for multiple murders.

Because El Chapo escaped from Mexican prisons three times over the years, security is among the chief concerns for his detainment in the U.S. With all of his tunnel-digging experience, maybe the MTA will contract him for help handling the L Train apocalypse while he’s in town.
