During an interview with Ohio television station on Monday, Donald Trump speculated that Khizr Khan, father of slain Army Captain Humayun Khan, “viciously attacked” him because he opposed the candidate’s border policy designed to keep “radical Islamic terrorists” out of the United States.

“[Border security is] a very big subject for me. Border security’s very big,” Trump told WSYX. “And when you have radical Islamic terrorists probably all over the place, we’re allowing them to come in by the thousands and thousands and I think that’s what bothered Mr. Khan more than anything else.”

“I’m not gonna change my views on that,” Trump continued. “We have radical Islamic terrorists coming in that have to be stopped. We’re taking them in by the thousands.”

During the same interview, Trump was asked if he had any regrets about his campaign. Trump reportedly said he did not.
