More than two weeks after the fact, Donald Trump Jr. has apologized for identifying the woman raising her arm in a Nazi salute at his father’s cancelled Chicago rally as Bernie Sanders supporter Portia Boulger.

In his apology tweet, Trump Jr. wrote that he had received “bad info,” and that the woman was “someone else.” In fact, it was Birgitt Peterson, 69, of Yorkville, Illinois. She told the New York Times that she performed the sieg heil to teach a group of “rude” protestors, holding a poster with a picture of Adolf Hitler, a lesson. Not that she is a Nazi herself: “Absolutely I’m not a Nazi, no,” she told the Times. “I’m not one of those.”

“It’s insulting for anyone to assume that we have anything to do with Nazis,” her husband Don added.
