Katy Perry just wants to make sure you know she didn't pay to perform at the Superbowl unlike some other performers.

"I'm all about female empowerment and uplifting people's spirits, and people finding their own voice with songs like `Roar' and `Firework,' so maybe there is no better person" for the show, Perry—who allegedly plans to use the Superbowl to really stick it to mortal enemy Taylor Swift—tells the AP.

But then Perry also maybe threw a little shade at Beyoncé, who performed the 2013 halftime show and was recently seen celebrating the birth of newborn colt Taylor Swift.

The Super Bowl's massive TV audience - over 110 million people last year - makes the halftime show a much sought-after gig for musicians. So much so that the NFL reportedly asked Perry and other finalists to pay for the privilege of performing Feb. 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Perry adamantly didn't agree to that.

"I put my foot down very early in the courtship. I said, `Look guys, here's where I draw a line in the sand,'" she said. "I want to be invited on my own merits and not with some fine print. I stuck to my position ... I don't even care if my contract leaks. ... I have nothing to hide, basically."

[Here is Beyoncé's contract, which leaked. She was not paid and may not have had all of her production costs reimbursed by the NFL.]

Is Katy Perry on a suicide mission? It is one thing to prop yourself up atop Taytay's delicate frame, but Beyoncé?? Nice knowing you, KP.
