Colorado School Employee Accidentally Shoots High School Student
A Rangeview High School employee who moonlights as an armed security guard accidentally shot a student to whom he was giving a ride home yesterday.
The employee, who is not a teacher, was reportedly attempting to store his gun in his car's glove compartment before getting on the road when the weapon discharged, hitting the student in the leg.
The employee rushed the student to the hospital, where he underwent surgery for what police called a "significant injury." The student is expected to survive, and as of now it's unclear whether the employee will face any charges.
Rangeview High School is located in Aurora, Colorado, where last year's mass shooting in a movie theater, followed by the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, prompted the NRA to suggest that to keep our kids safe we need more armed guards at schools.
