The report of a building collapse in Pyongyang, North Korea's capital, came Sunday morning from the official Korean Central News Agency. No death toll was given, but the accident was reported as "serious," and a South Korean official said that hundreds might have died.

According to the AP, the report said it occurred on Tuesday in the capital's Phyongchon district "as the construction of an apartment house was not done properly and officials supervised and controlled it in an irresponsible manner." A South Korean government official, speaking anonymously, said that the building was presumed to have housed 92 families.

According to the KCNA report, the rescue operation ended Saturday and officials issued an apology and a rare admission of fault to families and district residents. The report cited one official as saying Kim Jong Un "sat up all night, feeling painful after being told about the accident."
