Brigham Young University, a Mormon university in Provo, Utah, has confirmed that they removed greeting cards from their campus store that outwardly celebrated gay marriage. Hallmark had stocked them in the store among the other cards.

A spokesperson for BYU spoke with the Associated Press about the placement of the cards, which read "Mr. and Mr." and "Mrs. and Mrs."

"This was just someone stocking the shelves who wasn't aware," she said. "We've been able to work with them."

Asked why they were removed, Jenkins referenced the BYU honor code. It states that while being attracted to people of the same gender doesn't violate the honor code, acting on those feelings is a violation.

"Homosexual behavior includes not only sexual relations between members of the same sex, but all forms of physical intimacy that give expression to homosexual feelings," it states.

The cards turned up in the BYU bookstore on Tuesday and had been removed by Wednesday, though staffers at the university weren't immediately clear on how they got there in the first place or if anyone had already bought them because God forbid.
