A man suspected of shooting a pastor connected to Ted Cruz was arrested last night outside the White House. It’s still unclear why he was there, but it seems likely related to his manifesto, which details an alien invasion at the highest levels of government.

Police were already searching for Kyle Andrew Odom, a former Marine suspected of shooting Pastor Tim Remington in the head and back Sunday. (The attack made the national news because Remington—who somehow survived the attack—had appeared onstage to pray with Ted Cruz just the day before.)

But Odom was somehow able to elude police in Idaho for three days, reportedly taking a commercial flight from Boise to D.C. on Tuesday, where Secret Service agents eventually took him into custody after he began throwing “unidentified items” over the White House fence late Tuesday night.

The material was non-hazardous, the New York Times reports.

While on the run, Odom sent his manifesto to several media outlets, including the Associated Press and KHQ local news in Spokane. In the 21-page document, he details an invasion by an “intelligent species of an amphibian-humanoid from Mars” and claims he shot Remington because Remington was a Martian. He also identifies the members of Congress he believes are aliens.

Odom, who reportedly has a history of mental illness, has been charged with attempted murder.
