A SWAT Team Just Took Down A Gunman Who Killed Six And Took Hostages
A man who killed six people and took another two hostage in a South Florida apartment complex was shot and killed by a SWAT team early this morning.
Last night the gunman, who has not yet been identified, fatally shot two people in a hallway of the five-story apartment building, three people in an apartment, and a man walking his children into an apartment across the street.
"He's inside the building, moving from floor to floor. Eventually he barricades himself in an apartment," a police sergeant told the AP.
A crisis team attempted to negotiate with the man, who asked for his girlfriend and his mother, for hours. When the talks broke down early this morning, the SWAT team went in. Both hostages survived, and police are still investigating the man's motive.
