A new Quinnipiac poll of the New York City mayoral race has Bill de Blasio leading at 43 percent—more than double the support of Bill Thompson, at 20 percent. (Quinn trails with 18 percent.) If de Blasio can garner more than 40 percent of the vote in the primary, he can avoid a runoff.

True, but that surname, "Thompson" seems a bit too assertive. de Blasio has the right soporific sensibility while appealing to a plethora of romance language ethnicities.

I thought he did a pretty shitty job when he was the NYC Board of Education President who pretty much paved the way for mayoral control of the schools. In addition, there was a piece in the NYT recently about his time as Comptroller of the city pension fund. He got a little cozy with money managers that he steered the pension money to who just so happens donated generously to his campaign coffer.

He's ahead because people dislike Quinn so much, not because of what he stands for. Meanwhile, all I know about him is that he wants to tax "the rich" and stop "stop and frisk." I read his website, but it sounds like a lot of baloney—the kinds of things people want to hear, but with no substance.

So you don't believe him or you don't think it's possible to accomplish those goals? Personally, I prefer a mayor who says what I want to hear instead of what real estate developers and wall streeters want to hear.

Both, he might mean what he says, but some of it isn't realistic. A lot of those decisions have to do with what the city council, the governor, and the NYS senate says. I liked him at first, but the more I hear/read... something seems off.
