It's unclear if Subway is preparing to launch its own assembly-line rendition of the bánh mì sandwich, but it seems they already have the condiment part covered.

A new Subway topping called "creamy Sriracha sauce" was recently spotted in several Santa Ana, California, locations by the food blog Foodbeast. According to their taste test, the sauce "had a mayo-like consistency and was less sweet and much more spicy" — ideal for a classic banh mi.

Foodbeast says there is no word from Subway on a wider availability of the sauce — much less a nationwide roll-out. For now it looks like you'll have to hold on to that Sriracha bottle in your backpack for a little while longer.
