Barely a month and a half after Fox News shocked the nation by airing a car chase that ended in a graphic close-up shot of a suicide, Los Angeles-area television stations were back showing live police pursuits without a tape delay.

The risk caught up with them today during a tense standoff in Lancaster between Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies and a bank robbery suspect, when deputies opened fire on the unidentified man's car, killing him in full view of circling TV cameras.

(According to reports, the suspect had allegedly fired the first shot after pretending to surrender.)

Unlike Fox News, however, no apologies were offered to viewers, because, hey, that's what they were hoping would happen anyway, right?
