A 4.0 magnitude quake hit Maine tonight at about 7:00. Maine families were just welcoming home their fishermen dads when a quake erupted about 3 miles west of Hollis Center, Maine. Some Bostoners doling out bread bowls at Faneuil Hall might have been shaken and could've spilled spilled some soup on their counters. Some kid probably said that his bed moving back and forth was "wicked awesome," and other smaller kids were probably "wicked scared."

According to the U.S. Government, New England has a geological extension that moves southward through Long Island. Lee Goldberg, ABC 7's golden haired weather man, tweeted that the quake was felt in Eastern Long Island. We hope Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, is tucked away safely in her East Hampton home and that her beef bourguignon quietly simmering on the stove wasn't knocked over.

Tonight's Presidential debate being held at Hofstra University was felt in Western Long Island, so any bootshaking done by either of the two candidates is from pure nerves, not any meteorological elements.
