Quebec Radio Station Duo Successfully Prank Calls U.N. Secretary-General
A comedy duo from Montreal known as the Masked Avengers successfully pranked called U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Wednesday afternoon. Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel pretended to be Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and Ban bought the act, or at least until the duo made a strange crack about Harper's hair.
After Audette (who was playing Harper; Trudel pretended to be Harper's aide) said he had to miss this week's ministerial meeting because he was "too busy combing his hair with Krazy Glue" - an apparent dig at Harper's hair, which, who can even know about Canadian political humor – Ban grew suspicious.
"Excuse me, am I speaking with Prime Minister Harper right now?" Ban is quoted as saying.
All things considered, Ban and his office were pretty cool about the prank.
"He quickly realized it was a prank ... and he took it as it was intended: as a joke," said Eri Kaneko, associate spokeswoman for Ban's office.
…
"Perhaps this was not the best use of his time," Kaneko said. "In the future, we will be listening extra hard for poor French accents for any calls coming from Canada."
As was Harper:
"Well played," Harper's spokesman tweeted about the prank.
Ban shouldn't feel too bad; the Masked Avengers have previously pranked Bill Gates, Sarah Palin and Charlie Sheen.
