Trend science is a delicate art. The progression of a group or a place or an activity from "strange" to "offbeat" to "trendy" to "hateful" is one that can often only be precisely decoded by experts such as ourselves, or whatever other assholes have opinions on the internet. For example: we know for sure that urban farming is now a trend that can be classified as fully fauxhemian, and irrationally mocked accordingly. But what about kids who go to college, and then become farmers, out there in the country, where the farms are? Are they proper targets for our self-loathing turned outwards, yet?

EVIDENCE IN FAVOR OF HATING STUPID COLLEGE KID FARMERS

1. There is a New York Times story about them as a phenomenon today.
2. It's like,

Jeff Arnold, 28, who has learned how to expertly maneuver a tractor, graduated from Colorado State University. Abe Bobman, 24, who studied sociology at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, was clearing vines alongside Nate Krauss-Malett, 25, who went to Skidmore College.

Uhh sure, why not leave the farming to the farmers and go back to doing experimental performance art at your fauxhemian schools like Colorado State?
3. "'Farming appeals to me, and probably to other people, because it's simple and straightforward work outdoors with literal fruits from your labor,' Mr. Bobman said. 'It doesn't feel like you're a part of an oppressive institution.'" Oh an oppressive institution, where'd you learn that, Poli Sci 101??? *High five* Oh did you learn that in The Noam Chomsky Reader you read in your college class??? *High five*
 4. Another kid in the story went to Oberlin. Fuck that.

EVIDENCE THAT COLLEGE KIDS BEING FARMERS IS OKAY

1. College is okay.
2. Farming is okay.
3. All things considered it's better to not be on the side of oppressive institutions.
4. College kids covered in poop.
