According to a report from the Associated Press, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is calling for the release of three members of Pussy Riot, saying that any further imprisonment would be "unproductive."

Pussy Riot, a feminist punk collective, came to international fame after three of its members were arrested and jailed for hooliganism, a charge stemming from their storming of a Russian Orthodox church and performing an anti-Putin protest song back in February. The AP speculates that Medvedev's statement "could signal the band members' imminent release as their case comes up for appeal on Oct. 1."
