A Florida robbery may have been prevented if the employee of the targeted store had not been kind enough to lend the robber a pen.

Police in DeLand say an employee at a local Dunkin Donuts was approached by a man who asked to borrow a pen. He then proceeded to sit down at a table and write out a robbery note on a napkin, which he returned to hand the cashier a short time later.

The suspect reportedly placed his hand in his pants pocket to signify that he was armed. He then snatched the money from the employee and made a hasty exit.

No identifying information was released, nor is there any word on the status of the pen.
