Cinnabon Enters Pizza Game as Domino's Steps Out
Tired of having to purchase your pizzas and Cinnabon rolls separately? Introducing the Pizzabon.
Currently only available at the Cinnabon "test kitchen" in Atlanta's Cumberland Mall, the Pizzabon — cheese, pepperoni, and tomato sauce on a Cinnabon circle — will be rolled out nationwide if the preview is successful.
As an incentive, free Pizzabons will be handed out to customers this Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM. Other items being tested at the Cumberland Mall branch include new pastries and sandwiches.
Concerning the menu expansion, Georgia Restaurant Association executive director Karen Bremer told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "you've got to innovate to satisfy the demands of old customers and to create some new ones."
Incidentally, one company that agrees is Domino's pizza, which is moving beyond its signature food just as Cinnabon joins the fray.
The company today unveiled a new pizza-less logo which aims to reflect Domino's new direction.
"So much of our menu is beyond pizza right now that we feel like we're more than just a pizza place," Domino's chief marketing officer Russell Weiner told AdAge.
