MCA's Will Bars Use of Beastie Boys Songs to Sell Crap
Even in death, Adam "MCA" Yauch is sticking it to the man: the late Beastie Boys member's will prohibits his image and music from being used in any advertising.
That means, no, you won't see a holographic MCA trying to sell you a "No Sleep Till Memory Foam" mattress.
Yauch died in May at age 47 after a long battle with cancer. His will also put his assets in a trust for his wife Dechen Yauch and their daughter. Dechen has the right to sell her late husband's work.
And it's unclear if the remaining members of the Beastie Boys will be able to sell their joint work to advertisers. If they do make that choice in the future, we can at least hope they'll use some discretion.
