Just over a week after calling McCain's decision to pick Sarah Palin a mistake, Dick Cheney sort of apologized. The former vice president clarified his statements to serious journalist Sean Hannity last night, saying, "the process didn't meet the standards I would like to see our candidate pursue when they pick a running mate."

He also admitted that he's personally fond of Palin.

"I like Gov. Palin, I think she's a very able and effective spokesman for the party, for conservative causes. She believes in a lot of the same things I believe in."

That said, it seems unlikely that Cheney, who recently celebrated his gay daughter's wedding, will be eating Chick-fil-A with Palin anytime soon.
