Ed Helms Takes High-Profile Stand Against Chick-fil-A for Anti-Same-Sex-Marriage Stance [UPDATE: Chick-fil-A Relents?]
The Office star Ed Helms announced yesterday on Twitter that he plans to boycott the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A over their anti-gay agenda.
"Chick-fil-A doesn't like gay people? So lame," Helms tweeted. "Hate to think what they do to the gay chickens! Lost a loyal fan."
Chick-fil-A President and COO Dan Cathy upset many this week when he brusquely told the Baptist Press his company was "guilty as charged" when it came to opposing marriage equality.
He followed that up by claiming on the Ken Coleman Show that legalizing same-sex marriage would invite "God's judgment on our nation."
UPDATE: In response to the mounting backlash, Chick-fil-A has just released an official statement concerning Cathy's controversial remarks, saying that "going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena."
No word on whether that means Chick-fil-A is done donating millions to anti-gay organizations and causes.
