Son Learns About His Dad's Suicide From Footage of Aftermath That Went Viral on Twitter
Footage of a man who was reportedly decapitated after jumping in front of train in the Dutch city of Driehuis was posted to Twitter by the teenagers who recorded it, and was quickly retweeted by many Twitter users in the Netherlands.
Though they would not comment on the incident, local police did issue a tweet asking those spreading the footage [warning: graphic] to delete it from their account out of respect for the victim's family.
Officer Edwin Verweij said the request was prompted by the revelation that the man's son had seen the images himself before police informed him that his father was the victim. "Have had to tell relatives of the victim that their husband and father has been killed," Verweij said. "Very emotional. Son saw pictures online before he knew it was his father!"
A police spokeswoman confirmed Verweij's claim, but would not provide any additional details.
