Secretary of Partying Down Hillary Clinton Wears Sassy Sunglasses, Mardi Gras Beads at Swearing In Ceremony
Though the swearing in of Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Michael Hammer was a mostly routine affair, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sought to make it memorable by donning an article of clothing sporting Hammer's favorite color — purple.
Alas, Clinton told attendees, "I have pantsuits in nearly every color – except purple."
Not one to give in or back down easily, Clinton came prepared. In lieu of purple attire, the Secretary decked herself out in a variety of purple accoutrements: Purple mardi gras beads, purple novelty rings, and, the "piece de resistance" — wing-tipped purple and green sunglasses from the Elton John Collection.
She then proceeded to read Hammer the oath of office while in full partytime regalia.
